Mumbwa Youth Lead the Charge for Safer Communities
With support from the Women and Girls Fund, Mumbwa Child Development Agency marked National Youth Day by celebrating the remarkable leadership of young people from Shimbizhi community. The event, held under the inspiring theme “Arise and Soar,” provided a platform for youth leaders to articulate their vision for the vital role they play in building stronger, more resilient communities.
The young leaders did not simply speak; they took action. Through a dedicated outreach campaign, they distributed flyers and facilitated critical community conversations on pressing issues affecting their peers and families:

Ending Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Child Marriage – engaging community members on the harmful effects of these practices and promoting protective measures.

Reducing Teenage Pregnancy – raising awareness on reproductive health, the importance of staying in school, and the collective responsibility to support young people.
The outreach reflected a growing movement of young people stepping into leadership roles, not as passive beneficiaries but as active agents of change. Their energy, courage, and commitment were on full display as they engaged with peers, parents, and community leaders.
