PROMOTING WOMEN’S LEADERSHIP THROUGH COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
The Zambia National Women’s Lobby successfully conducted community sensitization meetings in Kabwe and Mkushi aimed at promoting inclusive leadership and strengthening women’s participation in political and decision-making processes. These engagements focused on increasing community understanding, shifting attitudes, and building meaningful support for women’s leadership at both community and district levels.
Key issues discussed included gender and leadership, the importance of women’s participation, the barriers women face in political and leadership spaces, and the critical role communities play in supporting women leaders.
The expected outcomes of these engagements include reduced resistance towards women candidates, increased community support for women in leadership, and a positive shift in attitudes towards women leaders.
Creating communities that champion equality, inclusion, and empowered leadership for women and girls.
