The Women and Girls Fund Hosts the First Minister of Scotland in Zambia
The Women and Girls Fund (WGF) was honoured to host the First Minister of Scotland for a roundtable discussion during his official visit to Zambia.
The engagement provided a valuable opportunity for the First Minister to meet recipients of WGF grant and representatives of Women and Girls-Led Organisations (WGLOs) who are championing gender equality and empowerment in their communities.
During the session, participants discussed the deep-rooted cultural norms that continue to reinforce gender inequality and shared insights on the transformative power of education in empowering women and girls to drive social and economic progress.
The dialogue also emphasised the importance of women’s participation in political and decision-making spaces, highlighting the need for greater representation, inclusion, and leadership at all levels of governance.
The First Minister’s visit reaffirmed the shared commitment between Scotland and Zambia to advance gender equality and support women and girls as key agents of change.
